Out of the sandbox, A5 jailbreak now one step closer Posted: 11 Jan 2012 03:10 PM PST With the last update regarding the yet to be released iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak coming to us from pod2g, we learned that a "dream team" had been assembled to help tackle a sandboxing issue in the Apple A5, now the latest information is brought to everyone via Planetbeing where he took to Twitter to note: And we’re out of the sandbox with @saurik’s invaluable help! (well, at least there’s a PoC) Turning out more complex than X-Gold 618.That of course doesn’t put an iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak in our hands right away but it does bring us one step closer to it finally becoming a reality. |
Hands on with Mugtuk Monsters at CES 2012 Posted: 11 Jan 2012 02:04 PM PST Mugtuck Monsters is an adorable iPhone app filled with 3 adorable little monsters that your children can interact with by touching their face and tickling them, poking them, and even rocking them to sleep. The app is cute in itself, but Mugtuck also offers a cuddly little iPhone case turning the monster into a stuffed animal. We got our hands on them at CES 2012.

Griffin demonstrates Studio Connect with Midi control Posted: 11 Jan 2012 01:57 PM PST Griffin is here at CES 2012 demonstrating their new Studio Connect peripheral. If you’re a musician looking to take recording on the go, the studio connect aims to bring you this with Midi control. The iPad dock adds extra audio inputs and adds Midi connections. Once you’re done you can upload your content to GarageBand or whatever suite you choose. We got a hands on here at CES and while the product lives up to what it says it’ll do, it’s a bit bulky to carry around form a convenience point of view.

mophie discusses their development process and future products at CES 2012 Posted: 11 Jan 2012 01:51 PM PST In the sea of iPhone accessories that is CES 2012, we made sure we took the time to stop by and talk to the good folks from Mophie – makers of such products like the mophie juicepack air and mophie juicepak plus that we reviewed recently. They walked us through some of their development processes, expectations for battery technology in the future and some ideas of what they’re looking forward to coming out of CES 2012. They have some ‘disruptive’ products upcoming but weren’t fully ready to discuss those as of yet — plenty to look forward to in 2012 from mophie.

Belkin talks new iPhone cases at CES 2012 Posted: 11 Jan 2012 01:38 PM PST We’re here at CES 2012 talking to Belkin about iPhone cases. This time around they’ve aimed to differentiate cases for white and black iPhone users. Their new lines expected in April are focused specifically on the color differences. Certain cases will compliment the black variant while others will look better on white models. Outside of expanding selection from a color and form factor aspect, they’ve been experimenting with new types of plastic that allow them to make cases even thinner and lighter. Not only are their new lines thinner and lighter but certain plastics can be used to create very realistic textures such as wood. While actual wood cases are on the market currently, plastic tends to allow your device to breathe better and not overheat, especially while charging.

Snappy5 adds instant camera access to the iPhone [jailbreak] Posted: 11 Jan 2012 01:12 PM PST Snappy5 for iOS 5 is a new jailbreak mod in Cydia that brings instant access to the iPhone camera no matter what you’re doing.
Although Apple does include camera access from the iPhone lock screen in iOS 5, the app still technically needs to be launched before you’ll be able to snap a photo. As such, it still takes a measurable amount of time to launch the camera. Snappy5 rids this issue by implementing a mobile substrate extension tie-in, which gives near-instant access to the camera no matter where you are. Another great feature is snap on launch, which takes a photo the moment Snappy5 is called up. If you’re in an app, at your home screen, or have your iPhone locked – you won’t have to worry about missing that special moment with Snappy5. If you run into any trouble you can always jump into our Jailbreak and Unlock forums or post it in the comments!

T-Mobile getting more AWS spectrum, but will they get the iPhone? Posted: 11 Jan 2012 09:27 AM PST AllThingsD was able to sit down with T-Mobile CEO Philipp Humm, who offered insight into why the carrier hasn’t yet come to a deal with Apple to officially carry the iPhone on their network.
This, however, will change with the failed merger attempts from AT&T. When the deal fell apart, T-Mobile walked away with a cool $3 billion and additional AWS spectrum needed to support a device like the iPhone. However, Humm also pointed out that, even with more spectrum and newer chipsets, Apple would still need to add that AWS support, or T-Mobile will remain without an iPhone. Source: AllThingsD |

Rumor: Apple starts issuing iPad 3 build orders for March release Posted: 11 Jan 2012 08:52 AM PST According to japanese news site macotakara, Apple has issued build orders to Foxconn and Pegatron for the iPad 3, which is expected to hit in March.
It has been rumored that Sharp will produce the new IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide) iPad 3 panels, with a purported Retina display resolution of 2048×1536. If Apple intends to stay on their spring release schedule, it makes a lot of sense for them to be getting orders in place now. Source: macotakara |
Seth Green shows off new media sharing app, Shodogg Posted: 11 Jan 2012 07:51 AM PST Celebrities have tendency to bubble up across CES, but it’s not often one of them is an honest-to-goodness exhibitor. Seth Green, the most excellent comedian behind Robot Chicken and a big player in Family Guy, used CES 2012 to announce his investment and advisory role with an app called Shodogg. It’s a pretty simple HTML5 app which lets you quickly share mobile videos to your PC, tablet, Google TV, or just about any other web-enabled device. They’re aiming to launch a native iPhone app in March, and given the heavy “platform agnostic” angle, you can expect this on Android sometime soon. Sharing streaming video can be tricky if the source doesn’t want to play nice, and even when they do, DLNA is still farm from perfect. Though there’s definitely room for an app like Shodogg, I think the biggest thing about it is that Seth Green is involved. Call me shallow. It’s just good to see smart celebrities getting entrepreneurial. Who knows, maybe if more of them focus on app development, the next generation of programmers could enjoy some amount of social prestige. You can find out more about Shodogg over here, or jump right in and sign up for the alpha.

With AnyPlay, you can watch the channels that are included in your linear channel subscription through the Xfinity TV app on the iPad, and very soon the Motorola Xoom™ tablet. This means that while someone else watches a program in the living room, for example, you can watch another show on your iPad from the backyard deck, kitchen or other places around the home. The AnyPlay device works like any other setup box however instead of delivering the available channels via a cable to your TV, it delivers them to your WiFi router which can then distribute the secure video to your iPad. Your iPad has to be connected to your home network to view the stream; no access is available from outside your home. Comcast’s existing Xfinity TV app is used to view the Live TV channels. AnyPlay is available free of charge for Xfinity HD Triple Play customers but only in Denver and Nashville at the moment; Comcast plan to add more markets in the coming months. Source: Comcast |

The protector goes on clear and adheres quickly and easily preventing issues with bubbles. After applied the screen protector is barely visible. The biggest feature is the self healing scratch protection. Just like you wouldn’t want to see scratches on your actual screen, it can sometimes be just as annoying to see them on the screen protector you’re looking at constantly. Damage Control aims to deal with the scratch issue altogether by self healing the scratches on the screen protector itself. No pricing or availability has been given as of yet. |
