Jawbone UP gets refund offer, no questions asked guarantee Posted: 08 Dec 2011 03:52 PM PST Jawbone has announced they are now accepting returns and instituting a no-questions-asked guarantee program for the Jawbone UP. While initially everyone was extremely excited about the device, once users got it in their hands some started experiencing issues which Jawbone was not able to immediately correct. Jawbone has announced that they will accept one return per household as long as the device was purchased from an authorized retailer in 2011, and has to be claimed before Dec 31, 2012. Their no questions asked guarantee states that if for any reason you wish to return it, whether dissatisfied, facing an issue with it, or just no longer wish to have it they will accept the return. Always nice to see companies stand behind their product and give support to all the users whether they are happy or not. Source: Jawbone (1) (2) |

Rumor: Next iPad coming in February with Retina display? Posted: 08 Dec 2011 12:03 PM PST Take this one with a 9.7-inch grain of salt, but according to Citi analyst Richard Gardner, Apple has overcome all technical hurdles and will be releasing the iPad 3 in February sporting a full 2048×1536 Retina display.
TiPb previously heard Apple had considered moving iPad 3 up to a fall 2011 release but due to scale issues with the Retina display had moved it back to a spring 2012 slot. Bearing in mind analysts are often only as reliable as flipping a coin, this shouldn’t dissuade anyone who wants a current generation iPad 2 for the holidays from getting an iPad 2 for the holidays. If you can hold out, however, the original iPad was released in April 2010, and the iPad 2 hit in March of this year, so the cycle could well continue. (Or Apple could move iPad 3 to the June slot, keeping iPhone in its new fall position — there’s simply no way to know until Apple makes the announcement.) Source: BusinessInsider |
Twitter for iPhone gets updated, new design comes along with it Posted: 08 Dec 2011 11:13 AM PST Twitter had begun rolling out a massive new design overhaul focused on consistency, which calling #letsfly, and is available now in a freshly updated Twitter for iPhone. The #letsfly update aims to make your Twitter experience faster and simpler. Your main timeline is now called “Home” and your mentions are now “Connect” and they added a quick way to access hash tags and searches which is called “Discover”. It certainly does look fresh and clean, and may be more accessible to new users. On the down side, Direct Messages (DM’s) have been buried under the “Me” tab, as has account switching. (Though you can swipe up to get DM’s and left to switch accounts, slightly speeding up the process.) Notably, this is the first major update since Loren Brichter — the innovative developer behind the original Twitter for iPhone and Mac (called Tweetie before it was bought out) and iPad — left Twitter a short time ago. The #letsfly update for Twitter for iPhone is available now in the App Store.

Revamped Google Images brings carousel style results to iPad Posted: 08 Dec 2011 08:44 AM PST Google has revamped Google Image search results on the iPad (and other tablets) and implemented a new carousel style user interface making it much easier to navigate. Gone are the days of viewing the full resolution image and having to go back to the results to see the next one; here are the days of simply swiping to the next full resolution image! Need more information on a particular image? Not a problem as all you have to do is tap the link in the lower left corner and the site begins to load. From the outside it looks exactly the same, but the new functionality is another page in Google’s redesign book. Source: Google Mobile Blog |

The BEHRINGER iNuke iPhone dock delivers 10,000 watts of music power, lots of publicity Posted: 08 Dec 2011 01:55 AM PST BEHRINGER sent us a release about their latest creation — the world's biggest and most powerful iPhone dock. The dock, which it has appropriately named iNuke stands at over eight feet wide, four feet tall and weighs in at a massive 700 pounds. The sound output from this beast is said to be around 10,000 watts. It has been purpose built for BEHRINGER stand at CES 2012 at a staggering cost of $30,000. Yes, that makes it a publicity stunt, and yes it seems to have worked. Unfortunately, that also means the iNuke will not be available for sale. So, if you want to see it in the flesh, make sure you visit BEHRINGER stand. If you just want to hear it, it probably won't matter where you are; especially if it goes to 11. |

Daily Tip: How to view High Quality YouTube over 3G Posted: 07 Dec 2011 09:05 PM PST Trying to figure out how to watch high quality YouTube videos when you’re on 3G? The iPhone is a great device for watching videos on YouTube. However, if you’re on the go, the built-in YouTube app reduces the quality of the video to save data. One common way of bypassing this quality-reduction is by jailbreaking and using an app like My3G, but what if you’re not on #teamjaibreak? Luckily, there’s a work around that works on any iPhone, and all it requires is the stock Safari web browser.
Bonus: You can add the web app to your homescreen to replace the default YouTube app by pressing the +, and then “add to homescreen” Tips of the day will range from beginner-level 101 to advanced-level ninjary. If you already know this tip, keep the link handy as a quick way to help a friend. If you have a tip of your own you’d like to suggest, add them to the comments or send them in to dailytips@tipb.com. |

OnLive brings console-quality gaming to the iPad Posted: 07 Dec 2011 07:07 PM PST OnLive, the cloud-based videogame streaming company that lets you play console-quality games on devices that would otherwise slow to a crawl under such pressure, has finally introduced the service to the iPad.
OnLive will also be bringing the service to Android tablets and other devices like the Kindle Fire so gamers can play in tablet form no matter which platform they prefer. The service is rather groundbreaking and will come with more than 25 titles that support touchscreen-based controls including L.A. Noire from Rockstar, with an additional 150 games to play when paired with their universal wireless controller which sells for $49.99. With OnLive coming to tablets, this makes gaming much more accessible for those who don’t have consoles like the Playstation 3 or Xbox360 and other high-end computer setups. OnLive launched the OnLive Viewer app for the iPad around this time last year before showing off full gameplay on the iPad at E3. It’s good to see they’ve come through on their promise. With HD console-quality gaming now available on the iPhone and iPad, it makes you wonder if this will have any direct impact on console sales given the fact that over 250 million iOS devices are currently floating around out there. What do you think? The App currently works on the iPad, with support for the iPhone said to be coming in the near future. OnLive is expected to hit the App Store shortly and we’ll update with a link once it does! Source: WSJ |
