Apple has launched the first new iPod touch commercial in a good long while with Share the fun. It shows hipsters youngsters enjoying new iOS 5 features like iMessage and integrated tweeting, along with gaming and Game Center invites, video recording, FaceTime and even some multitasking fast app switching for old times sake.

While Apple didn’t launch an all new iPod touch this year, they did add white add a white model to the lineup. If you’re in the market, remember Black Friday sales hit tomorrow.

It’s Apple’s only sale of the year, not to mention a huge sales day for Best Buy and other retailers, so we’re curious what the TiPb Nation has on their wish lists this year? Following a Federal Communications Commission proposal for hearings on the deal, AT&T has withdrawn its FCC application to buy T-Mobile USA from parent company Deutsche Telekom while simultaneously announcing they’re continuing to try and get DoJ approval. Still at stake — a ton of AT&T’s cash.

As a result of the FCC's action, AT&T expects to recognize a pretax accounting charge of $4 billion ($3 billion cash and $1 billion book value of spectrum) in the 4th quarter of 2011 to reflect the potential break up fees due Deutsche Telekom in the event the transaction does not receive regulatory approval.

Once again the proposed AT&T – T-Mobile USA merger — AT&T-Mo if you’re nasty — proves itself to be the Schrodinger’s cat of the wireless industry. And that’s not good news for T-Mobile users still waiting… and waiting… and waiting… to get an official iPhone on their network.

In an interview with Forbes, Microsoft’s Chief Research and Strategy Officer Craig Mundie poopoos Apple’s Siri intelligent virtual assistant, saying it’s nothing Microsoft’s TellMe hasn’t been doing since the introduction of Windows Phone 7 over a year ago.

You can take these Windows Phones now and you can just pick them up and you can say text Eric and it’ll ask you what you want to say and it transcribes it. And say send. You can query anything through Bing by just saying the words. All that is already there.

It’s amazing how decades later, Microsoft still doesn’t get it. A feature isn’t just a feature isn’t just a feature. It’s more than the sum of its technology and design. Android had great voice control going back to the Nexus One. But Siri isn’t voice control. Siri is context and relationships and Siri is absolutely personality. That Apple programmed Siri to feel like a Pixar character is what made it engaging and what got the internet to flood itself with screenshots showing hundreds of funny, witty, strange, and engaging Siri moments. It isn’t that Siri can transcribe a text message to Eric, it’s how it does it and how you feel doing it.

Windows Mobile and other had touchscreens for years before Apple debuted the iPhone. Then and now, it wasn’t about the spec but the experience.

3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Gift This App
4. A screen summarizing the app will appear. Tap Next.
5. Fill out the form and tap Next
6. Review the information and tap Buy Gift
7. If you’d like to gift the app again, tap Gift Again; otherwise, tap Done.

Gift an app from iTunes on Windows or Mac

If you don’t have an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, you can gift apps right from iTunes on your desktop!

1. Open iTunes on your computer
2. Browse to the app you wish gift
3. Click the arrow next to the app’s price
4. Click Gift This App
5. Fill out the form and click Continue
6. If everything on the summary screen is correct, click Buy Gift

International gifting

If you have a U.S. iTunes account, you can only gift apps to other people with U.S. App Store accounts (or U.K. to U.K., or Canada to Canada, etc.). You can’t gift internationally. If you really want to buy an app for someone who uses a different regional iTunes Store, you’ll need to send them cash via PayPal or something similar, along with a note telling them to use it to buy the app you picked out for them.

Apple has removed Big Fish Games subscription based iPad gaming app from the App Store without any explanation. We reported yesterday that the app was the first to allow in-app subscriptions where for a monthly fee users could play a range of Big Fish games. The games were stored and streamed from a data center belonging to Big Fish.

"We were notified that the app was removed," said Paul Thelen, founder of Big Fish, a game publisher in Seattle. The app had been available since Nov. 18, he said. "We're trying to follow up with Apple to try to figure out what happened." Thelen said he was surprised by the move because Big Fish had worked with Apple for several weeks to ensure that it met the requirements for recurring monthly charges made through the App Store.

According to Bloomberg, Apple declined to make any comment on the reasons for the app being pulled. Seems like a strange one to us; we will let you know as soon as we hear anymore.
