Facebook for iPad available now! [Updated] Posted: 10 Oct 2011 01:45 PM PDT The waiting is over, folks, as Facebook has let us know that Facebook for iPad is set to hit the App Store today! It appears as though it will be available as an update to the Facebook for iPhone app. In addition to an interface designed for the iPad, some of the app’s great advantages over the web is that you can chat and play Facebook games. I complained nearly a year ago about Facebook not having an iPad app, and it’s great to see them finally release one. I sure as heck can’t wait to get my hands on it!
UPDATE: It’s out! Go get it! Source: Facebook |
ODM PH-1 precision pH Meter for iPhone Posted: 10 Oct 2011 12:38 PM PDT The ODM PH-1 accessory combined with its pH Meter companion app brings pH measurement to the iPhone and iPod touch. The accessory plugs into the iPhone and has a reader attached for taking the pH and temperature readings. The companion app records the readings, as well as the location, time, and date of the readings. The could be a fabulous little kit for scientist working in the field for environmental testing, or even for commercial pool maintenance. Another great use would be in the science labs of schools – the labs could have a handful of the accessories and students could take turns using their iPhones and iPod touch’s to take readings for their projects. Check out the video above, where Rene interviews the developer and creator of the ODM PH-1 precision pH Meter and receives a demo.
Head on over to odm Technology’s website for ordering information. The companion app, pH Meter, is available on the iPhone for free. Have an app you’d love to see featured on TiPb? Email us at iosapps@tipb.com, tell us about your app (include an iTunes link), and we’ll take a look. |
Apple commemorating Steve Jobs on October 19 Posted: 10 Oct 2011 11:50 AM PDT MacGenerations received a copy of an email purportedly from Apple CEO Tim Cook, announcing the date and time for Apple’s celebration of their late co-founder, Steve Jobs‘ life.
Jobs passed away last Wednesday at the age of 56. Since then, both Apple in Cupertino and Apple Stores around the world have been covered in flowers, post it notes, and memorabilia in a show of gratitude, inspiration, and sympathy. Source: MacGenerations |
iPhone 4S hands-on video shows fast benchmarks and “Raise to Speak” for Siri Posted: 10 Oct 2011 10:56 AM PDT A video purportedly showing the iPhone 4S in action reveals a new “Raise to Speak” feature for Siri, letting users bring the iPhone up to their ear instead of holding down the home button in order to active the feature. The video also reveals benchmarks showing the iPhone 4S to be about twice as powerful as the iPhone 4.
Additional features found in the video show more options for Siri, including language selection settings, voice feedback, user information and the ability to turn off the service system-wide. These benchmarks are in-line with Apple’s suggestion of the iPhone 4S being roughly twice as powerful as the iPhone 4 with its new A5 SoC powering the device.
