Daily Tip: How to add/remove individual calendars from Google Sync Posted: 16 Dec 2010 12:21 PM PST Have a lot of different calendars arranged in your Google Calendar, and curious how to manage which calendars display across the different devices you sync to? Perhaps you use an iPhone primarily for work and an iPad for play? If you’re syncing both devices to the same Google account, then knowing how to tell Google which devices should see which calendars is a necessity. Follow us after the break to find out how to do just this.
The default calendar app for the iPhone lets you only show certain calendars, but this often doesn’t extend to 3rd party App Store apps that pull calendar data from iOS. Fortunately, Google has provided an easy and straight-forward way of doing this if you’re set up through Exchange ActiveSync.
That’s it! Now you have full control over which calendars are synced to your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad from Google Calendar. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments below! Tips of the day will range from beginner-level 101 to advanced-level ninjary. If you already know this tip, keep the link handy as a quick way to help a friend. If you have a tip of your own you'd like to suggest, add them to the comments or send them in to dailytips@tipb.com. (If it's especially awesome and previously unknown to us, we'll even give ya a reward…) Daily Tip: How to add/remove individual calendars from Google Sync is a story by TiPb. Flipboard for iPad gets updated, adds Google Reader and Flickr support Posted: 16 Dec 2010 11:25 AM PST Flipboard for iPad just received a fairly big update, including the ability to add feeds from Google Reader, Flickr and more! One new feature of note is the option to post photos and status updates to Twitter, Facebook and other real-time social networks. Flipboard was initially released back in July and received a lot of early buzz. The app offers a dynamic and unique interface for browsing your social media feeds in a magazine-like format, flipping through “pages” of real-time content from your friends on Twitter and Facebook — a first of its kind. Now that they’ve added more streams of content, the app has far more reach and usefulness for users. Take a look at the full update list after the break, and let us know what you think of the update in the comments below! [iTunes - free]

Posted: 16 Dec 2010 11:18 AM PST Electronic Arts released new games this week including Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Ultimate Mortal Combat 3 for iPhone and SimCity Deluxe for iPad, and to celebrate the holiday season, they’ve put a ton of their iOS games one sale for $0.99. Yes, you heard that right, a TON of them (over 70 to be exact), even iPad! Battlefield Bad Company 2:
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3:
SimCity Deluxe for iPad:
So if there were some EA titles on your wish list that you were really hoping to pick up soon, now is the perfect time. Games such as Madden and Mirror’s Edge for iPad are normally over $10 each on iPad, so these sale prices are ridiculously good. Even two new releases are on sale for $0.99 as well. Can’t beat that! (Mortal Kombat will still set you back $6.99 though. Fatality!) Video and screenshots after the break. Anyone planning on picking up some of these titles or gifting them to others? Let us know what you decide to purchase or gift in the comments!

Posted: 16 Dec 2010 10:07 AM PST iPhone 4. Nexus S. There’s probably more to say about the differences than the similarities. Different operating systems? Check. Don’t work with 3G on the same networks? Check. Different screen sizes? Check. Different philosophy and methodology towards multitasking? Check. Different video conferencing solutions (insofar as few to none work yet on the Nexus S)? Check. The list goes on, but we’re sort of guessing that for most the choice between the Nexus S and the iPhone 4 will be determined by carrier choice and OS preference more than whether Android’s latest can go head-to-head with Steve Jobs’ glass-encased wonderphone. All that shouldn’t stop you from hitting us after the break for a photo fight between the iPhone 4 and the Nexus S – with some extra attention paid to how the iPhone still has the best music player around while Android’s just-released Google Maps 5.0 makes iOS’s version look a little lacking. Want more? Be sure to hit up our frenemies at Android Central for all the latest on the Nexus S. iPhone 4 vs Nexus S in Photos is a story by TiPb. This feed is sponsored by The iPhone Blog Store. |
