iPhone 4 is More Prone to Accidental Damage Posted: 18 Oct 2010 08:44 PM PDT Consumer electronics warranty firm SquareTrade recently released a study result which performed comparing accident rate for the iPhone 4 with those of the iPhone 3GS in the early months of ownership. The report, by reviewing the accident claim rate for over 20,000 iPhone 4 warranty owners and comparing it to the iPhone 3GS claim rate, shows that the iPhone 4 is generating an accident rate 68% higher than that of its predecessor. Among those accidents, broken glass can be the main one that took 82 percent of the accident claims, compared to 76 percent of iPhone 3GS owners. The reason for the increasement may because of the fact that there is now twice the amount of glass surface area to break. SquareTrade also compared the first four months of the iPhone 4 to the first four months of the iPhone 3GS. It found that those who own the iPhone 4 are more accident-prone. More specifically, iPhone 4 accident rates are up 68 percent compared to the same stat relating to iPhone 3GS. |
