iOS 4.2 features: Game Center for iPad [gallery] Posted: 15 Sep 2010 04:26 PM PDT iOS 4.2 will bring Game Center to iPad and yes, it will take advantage of the full screen. You’ll get a double column-view instead of single like on iPad, and that means your lists (like friends) will on the left and the detail view (like stats) will be on the right. What’s interesting is that beta 1 currently shows a number of icon-shaped outlines “dealt” card-like across Game Center’s game table like UI. They don’t show any apps yet, but tapping them does indeed take you to the App Store, and each one to a different game. Everything else looks to be there and be fully operational, from achievements to leaderboards to games. November can’t come fast enough. iOS 4.2 features: Game Center for iPad is a story by TiPb. UPDATED: iOS 4.2 not installing on iPhone, error code 10? Posted: 15 Sep 2010 02:01 PM PDT iOS 4.2 isn’t installing on iPhone for some developers if our email box and a quick search of Twitter are any indication. It sounds like the install starts fine but then has problems during the baseband update and spits out an error code 10. That’s hook it up to Xcode and restore to 4.1 language. That’s also why it’s a beta for developers, folks, not for production devices. UPDATE: @Justin_Horn from WhenWillApple and the TiPb iPhone Forums gives us the answer:
So update those first. [Twitter search, thanks angry complaining devs!] UPDATED: iOS 4.2 not installing on iPhone, error code 10? is a story by TiPb. This feed is sponsored by The iPhone Blog Store. |
iOS 4.2 features: Change fonts in Notes [buh bye Marker Felt!] Posted: 15 Sep 2010 01:44 PM PDT iOS 4.2 brings with it the ability to change fonts in Notes, traditionally locked down to — what many type snobs would call the torturous — Marker Felt. The new default is Chalkboard, a new option is the system standard Helvetica, and Marker Felt is demoted to last. Oh happy day. Settings pane after the break. iPad on iOS 4: Orientation lock goes software, switch goes mute, brightness gets slider Posted: 15 Sep 2010 01:33 PM PDT iOS 4.2 on iPad becomes like iPhone, with the hardware orientation lock changed to a mute switch, and a software orientation lock added to the fast app switcher UI’s widget section. iPad was originally announced with a mute switch but the description was later changed to read orientation lock just before release. Whether iOS 4.2 allowing Apple to go back to their original plan, or is simply allowing for more consistency across the iOS platform is unknown. A brightness slider (which Chad spotted during the keynote) has also been added. What do you think, changes for the better or worse? iPad on iOS 4: Orientation lock goes software, switch goes mute, brightness gets slider is a story by TiPb. No iOS 4.2 AirPrint for iPhone 3G Posted: 15 Sep 2010 11:42 AM PDT No iOS 4.2 AirPrint wireless printing for iPhone 3G owners, according to Apple:
Which iPhone 3G does not. So add AirPrint to the list, along with wallpapers, fast app switching, HDR photos, and the rest, and how much further behind is the 2008 flagship falling? No iOS 4.2 AirPrint for iPhone 3G is a story by TiPb. This feed is sponsored by The iPhone Blog Store. |
