Grooveshark for iPhone pulled from App Store following complaint from Universal Music Posted: 17 Aug 2010 03:35 PM PDT Grooveshark’s iPhone app has been pulled from the App Store following a complaint by Universal Music Group UK. According to their blog, Grooveshark is at a loss to explain it:
Mashable’s Christina Warren has an idea, however:
If you already have the app, you can continue using it. If not, you might just have to wait for Grooveshark to get their licenses in order with UMG and potentially the other 2 big record labels. Apprently, new media is still a work in progress… [Grooveshark via Mashable] Grooveshark for iPhone pulled from App Store following complaint from Universal Music is a story by TiPb. 7-inch iPad a reality by this Christmas? Posted: 17 Aug 2010 10:50 AM PDT IDG News has translated a Economic Daily News report that is claiming that we should expect a 7″ iPad by Christmas of this year. “The Economic Daily reports that Taiwanese companies have won a number of component contracts for the iPad 2. Chimei Innolux will supply 7-inch LCD screens, which use the same IPS (in-plane switching) technology found in the original iPad, which improves viewing angles and color on LCD screens. Touchscreen technology for the screens will come from Cando Corporation, the report says.” This is not the first we’ve heard of a 7″ iPad as earlier this month iLounge was reporting that a 7″ screened version is substantially finished and will be ready for a announcement either later this year or early in 2011. So are any of our readers ready to lay down their hard-earned cash on a 7″ iPad this holiday season? 7-inch iPad a reality by this Christmas? is a story by TiPb. Apple’s first Liquidmetal product revealed Posted: 17 Aug 2010 10:16 AM PDT That’s right ladies and gentlemen, the above image is a SIM ejector tool that was first included with the iPhone 3G and later with the iPhone 3GS and according to Cult of Mac it is indeed made out of Liquidmetal. Yes, this is the exact same Liquidmetal that Apple recently licensed the intellectual property of just last week. And in case you were wondering exactly what is Liquidmetal – it’s a very hard metal alloy, basically unbendable, and has a distinctive color and feel. Cult of Mac spoke to the co-inventor of this new metal alloy, Atakan Peker, and he noticed Apple was using his metal the moment he opened up his iPhone 3G. "That's my metal," he said. "I recognized it immediately. Take it from an expert, that's Liquidmetal." Cult of Mac wanted to be 100% sure about this so they went ahead and independently verified that Apple did in fact use Liquidmetal that was sourced from Liquidmetal Technologies. The length of time Apple sourced Liquidmetal for SIM ejector pins is unknown as the SIM ejector tools that shipped with European iPhones were made from regular steel that can be bent with ease. If you purchased a iPhone 4 and wondering where you Liquidmetal SIM ejector tool is, Apple did not one include one this time around. Apple’s first Liquidmetal product revealed is a story by TiPb. iPhone owners really getting more sex? Posted: 17 Aug 2010 05:33 AM PDT Kyle over at sibling site Android Central took issue with a recent story about iPhone owners getting more sex than Android or BlackBerry owners (go figure). To illustrate his point he spun a story about Droids taking over the college dorms and then posted up a little poll. Well, two can play at that game, Kyle. Anyone here seeing more Droids than iPhones out in the dating world? AC got just over 5000 votes. Let’s see if we can beat them there to. Tell your friends. Share this link. Bring the votes! iPhone owners really getting more sex? is a story by TiPb. This feed is sponsored by The iPhone Blog Store. |
China Unicom launching iPhone 4 (with Wi-Fi!), iPad Posted: 17 Aug 2010 05:22 AM PDT Looks like iPhone 4 will hit China Unicom next month, and with Wi-Fi to boot. Apparently the iPad is coming as well, but not at the same time — or any time specified at all yet. Previous versions of the iPhone in China have controversially not included Wi-Fi and suffered in sales compared to real iPhones sold unlocked in Hong Kong or smuggled in via the gray market. Still no word on China’s largest carrier, China Mobile, or whether or not any of the CMDA technology Apple is apparently cooking up is Chinese CDMA. New Sony PSP ad takes aim at iPhone Posted: 17 Aug 2010 05:09 AM PDT Sony has released a new ad for their PSP gaming system and it takes aim squarely at Apple’s iPhone and iOS gaming. “That [iPhone] ain’t built for big boy games”, the latest PSP spokeskid, Marcus Rivers, says to a goofy looking guy playing “Lame Castle”. “That’s built for texting your grandma and calling your girl.” Rivers then shows off a few older, $9.99 catalog titles, and calls the goofy guy to drive home the $9.99 price point before hitting the tag line: “step your game up.” Obviously this acknowledges the growing competition from iPhone, especially the low price point of iOS games. And since goofy guy can text grandma, call his girl, and play great new games without having to lug around a second, gigantic device — one that’s still bound to physical media and hasn’t seen a real hardware update since before Marcus was born — it might not be a winning strategy for Sony. (That Android PSP phone, however…) Video after the break. Does it make any of you want to carry around an iPhone and a PSP?
