Anyone who ever bought an iPhone on AT&T is now part of a class-action lawsuit taking aim at both the wireless carrier and Apple for their exclusive contract.

A lawsuit that was originally filed in 2007 has now been granted a class action status. It states that Apple and AT&T had illegally exerted a monopoly by telling customers their iPhone contract was two years long when in actuality the companies' exclusivity agreement was for an indefinite, undisclosed amount of time. That means even after iPhone customers' two-year contracts have expired, they still don't have the option of switching to another carrier because AT&T is still Apple's only U.S. partner.

Apple and AT&T declined to comment on the latest developments of the class-action suit. Little else is known about this lawsuit, but that it’s possible the continuing lawsuit could yield more information on the terms of the private contract between Apple and AT&T.
