iPhone 4 – This Changes Everything. Again Posted: 09 Jun 2010 08:01 PM PDT WWDC can always bring us surprises, and there is no exception this year. Jobs’ opening speech today releases the newest generation of iPhone to the public. Different from our speculation, the new generation is named iPhone 4, rather than iPhone 4G or iPhone HD. At the same time, the iPhone OS 4 also renamed as iOS 4. - New design. Only 9.3mm thick and 24% thinner than the iPhone 3GS, making it the thinnest smartphone on the planet. - High Resolution. The new display is 960 by 640 pixels, with an 800-to-1 contrast ratio. “Retina Display” is adopted, which provides sharper text and more accurate colors. - Long uptime. With a larger battery, iPhone 4 can offer longer uptime, including 7 hours of talk time 3G, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music, and 300 hours of standby. - A4 processor. The handset is powered by Apple’s own A4 processor, providing better working conditions. - Dual cameras. The iPhone 4 includes a whole-new camera system that includes LED flash with a 5 megapixel lens that records HD video. The new rear camera will record 720p video at 30 frames per second. - Multi-Tasking. Because of the use of iOS 4, multiple functions can be run at once without going in and out of apps. Apps can be sorted in one icon, which allows up to 2160 apps. - Anti-noise treatment. iPhone 4 has a second microphone for noise canceling. - Three-axis gyro. iPhone 4G adds a gyroscope, providing full pitch/roll/yaw sensing in 3D space. - Updated iBook. iPhone 4 brings PDF support as well as bookmarks. - More search service. Google is used as default server, and Bing is added. User can choose freely from Google, Yahoo and Bing. - Unified Mailbox. All email accounts in one area. |
